everywair sprays are back! in preparation for the season of traveling, gifting, stuffing stockings, housewarming, I spent 3 super delightful and productive days deep in everywair spray production mode at the le feu de l’eau candle factory. when taking care of business with jo and wendy, working hard felt like hardly working. thanks ladies! see them at the EPCF this weekend, too!

Farm & Flea Holiday Market at Basilica Hudson will be my first (and only) east coast craft fair this season before I head back to Los Angeles for the Echo Park Craft Fair. One particularly glorious day, before the official start of spring, a group of us, old friends and new, gathered at one of the most spectacular locations, to shoot some photos for my lookbook (more on that, later). Located way high in a Malibu Canyon, Windcliff Ranch boasts varied terrain, with sweeping canyon, valley, mountain and ocean views. Awesome, is an understatement. Breathtaking comes close. See for yourself.

Our hostess was my dear friend Valerie Lefranc and was luck would have it, her daughter Adele, was back home for a spell, so that was an extra added treat! Born in the south of France, Valerie lived in few other right places at the right time -we met in NYC in the late 1900’s! This canyon has been home for the better part of 20+ years. She is a great steward of this vast landscape, nurturing every square inch, every blade of grass, every rock and rubble, highlighting views and secret nooks, sharing all it’s beauty with all who have the honor of visiting.
A model, then stylist, Valerie has turned her creative hands to jewelry-making. While supplies last, look for her choice coveted pieces at In The Field, in Ojai.

chris darrow is (in my circles) the emperor of the inland empire; an axis of the claremont folk music community and prolific member of one of it’s most renowned artistic families. no documentary about the late 60’s -70’s so-cal music scene (20 feet from stardom, pbs’ troubadour, bbc’s laurel canyon, and more) is complete with out some choice chris commentary. generous and inspiring, chris is a multi-hyphenate: multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, session musician, member of several seminal southern california bands (kaleidoscope, nitty gritty dirt band to name just 2) and photographer.
this weekend i went to a reception to celebrate his show, Vanishing West, a selection of his photographs of signage and facades, the kind we take for granted until we look out our car window and see less and less of them, of these days. there are tons more photos in his archive that he intends to compile into a book.

a lovely sunday afternoon in topanga. first stop, a visit to danielle king at canyon gourmet where I met up with heather taylor (and family); there, we restocked our wares. i dropped off sac 1, sac 2 in canvas and natural leather, plus the small carry-all market tote. i love the table with heathertaylorhome linens, tea towels and pillows set with the latest candle offering, citrus, from le feu de l’eau . very enticing.
next, a quick drive up the hill, danielle treated us to the most delicious impromptu luncheon chez elle; featuring her favorite bounty from canyon gourmet, the farmer’s market, and a few choice delicacies from gjusta. yum and thank you very much! lovely ladies takin’ care o’ business and having a grand time doing it. so easy. i love california living.
